How to Save a Google Sheet as an Excel File and Upload It Into ARIS Online (AO)
ARIS Online (AO) currently prompts you to download the assessment as a Google Sheet. However, you’ll need to convert your file to Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) before it can be uploaded.
These instructions walk you through converting your Google Sheets to an Excel (.xlsx) file. Please note, Excel does not have to be on your computer for you to save a file as an .xlsx file.

Part 1 — Save Your Google Sheet as an Excel Spreadsheet
- Open your Google Sheet that contains the assessment data.
- In the top menu, click File.
- Hover over Download.
- Select Microsoft Excel (.xlsx).
- The Excel version of your file will download to your computer.
Part 2 — Upload Your Assessment File Into ARIS Online (AO)
- Go to your ARIS Online dashboard.
- Click on the “Learners” tab in the left-hand navigation menu, then use the drop-down menu to select the desired student.
- Click on Assessment in the learner’s profile.
- Click on Add Assessment.
- Click on Upload a Filled Template.
- Click on Upload Formatted Template.
- Locate in the files on your computer the Excel spreadsheet you just downloaded.
- Toggle on the assessment dates you wish to upload into your learner profile.
- Click Save Selected Assessments.
When the upload completes, your assessment data will appear in your AO dashboard.
All fields included in your template — including dates — will display exactly as they appear in the file.
