What is the difference between the Language Builder Cards and the Lang-O-Learn Cards?

The Language Builder Picture Noun Card Set is a comprehensive 350-set of professionally designed flashcards for early ABA therapy. The set contains very specific cards, in a very specific format to meet the the therapeutic requirements. Specifically:

  • The set includes 105 Basic Stage Set cards. These cards feature 2 identical cards and 5 similar cards for each of 15 images (that's 7 apple cards, for example). These cards are designed to exactly meet the needs of 2 introductory ABA drills (Identical and Similar Matching).
  • In the Basic Stage Set, the identical cards are all on a white background. These are the cards you start with to avoid any distraction. The similar cards are all in natural settings, designed to aid in generalization
  • The Language Builder Cards have 9 categories in one box: Animals, Foods, Vehicles, Furniture, Clothing, Toys, Everyday Objects, Shapes & Colors.
  • The Shapes and Color cards each have a duplicate card to teach matching.
  • The Language Builder Cards are labeled on the reverse with a special form which features suggested activities for the cards, and is designed to help therapists track which cards have been introduced and mastered, and on which date
  • The Language Builder Cards set does have a few cards that the Lang-O-Learn cards don't have... particularly the toys. Toys are not available in the Lang-O-Learn cards.

The Lang-O-Learn Card series are smaller (less-expensive) sets that are broken out by category. The Lang-O-Learn Cards have some features which are different that the Language Builder Cards:

  • With the Lang-O-Learn cards you buy just one category at a time, instead of a full 9-category set.
  • The Lang-O-Learn cards are labeled on the reverse with the name of the card in 17 different languages, rather than with the therapy tracking system that the Language Builder Cards use.
  • The Language Builder Cards set does have a few cards that the Lang-O-Learn cards don't have... particularly the toys. Toys are not available in the Lang-O-Learn cards.
  • The Lang-O-Learn Cards have some cards which are not found in the Language Builder Set 1, but are found in Language Builder Set 2: specifically, the full Sea Life Card set, the full Insects & Bugs Card set, the full set of Body Parts Cards, some of the Farm Card set, some of the Pets Cards, and some of the Fruits & Vegetables card set. And the Lang-O-Learn Card sets include a Lang-O-Learn Occupation Card set which features 20 of the cards which are found in the comprehensive Language Builder Occupation Cards set
